I've been coming here since 2015, as far as what methadone maintenance had done for me... Well thankfully I am a happy, functioning, productive member of society. When it comes to this clinic in particular... Things could be better. My counselor is an amazing lady but the staff, especially the owner leave a lot to be desired. The dosing nurses mean well. They deal with a lot from people daily and they do their best, but that owner, she's a horrible woman with a cold heart, a smart mouth, and a short temper.

Been a patient of Methadone for over 5 years. I first started out at the Montgomery Metro Center and was their for 3 years until I got married in 2016 and that I happily transferred to this location. At the Montgomery Metro Center I was unable to get clean and stable, BUT at this location, Shelby County Treatment Center I have been clean sense August 25, 2017 with NO SLIPS! That goes to show you right their who is here to help you and who is actually very serious about your health and recovery. I also couldn't have done it without my husband and the good Lord!

I highly recommend the facility to anyone suffering from an addiction to Opiates. This place is a life saver! The Counslers here are extremely helpful, non-judgemental and act as if you are the only client they have from the way they give you their full attention(which they actually have a lot of clients from what I can tell.) The medication prescribed to help with recovery is exactly what is needed in order to turn your life around and still be able to function normally. They make it very easy to go a full time job and be able to dose before you head in to your job for the day. I wish I had known about this facility years ago. I could go on and on about how great this treatment is and how awesome the staff is. Don’t be afraid to make that first step and go in for your first initial consult. You deserve to have your life back and the Shelby County Treatment Center will do just that!

This place has saved and changed my life. I was addicted to heroin for 3+ years and unless you've been in that situation you have no idea how hopeless it feels when thinking about treatment options. I know for a fact that had I not came here for help I wouldn't be alive today. Heroin is a huge problem in America. It's everywhere in Alabama, and it's too easy to access. This creates a lot of addicts. A lot of people assume that methadone treatment is just replacing one drug with another but they never consider the facts like how 97% of heroin addicts who check into a rehab facility leave and overdose and die. Heroin isn't just an addiction it's a disease. People with heart disease, take medication to control it. People with diabetes take medication to regulate their insulin levels. People with cancer go through chemotherapy in hopes of eradicating it. People with an addiction to heroin are no different. They have a disease, and need medication to control it. This medication has saved my life. It is the #1 opiate treatment in the world. The most successful and the most accessible. Most of us addicts don't have health insurance like normal people therefore even going to a doctor isn't something we can afford. This is the most affordable treatment by far and while some people do abuse it, most people, including myself just want their life back. The counselors here are amazing. The nurses are amazing. The doctor is very attentive. If you live near here and haven't found a way to get clean, try coming here. You will not be disappointed if getting clean is something that you actually want. The employees here care about their patients and you're not looked at as lesser-than like most of society chooses to see addicts. The truth is over 2 million people in the US are addicted to opiates. 1 in every 4 people. Heroin/opiate overdoses have killed more Americans in 2016 than the entire Vietnam War. Don't be afraid to get help. This place can help you. They have resources for everything. Low income housing, childcare, free car seat programs, free phone programs, dental & medical help. Help with your bills. Help building a resume, finding a job/career. This place can change your life, if you want it.

Well at first I thought it was awful!!! But as I progressed in the program and attended the group sessions I realized that this was actually helping me and I wasn't trading one drug for another. It helped my withdrawal symptoms and decreased my wanting to use something to change the way I felt. They also helped by giving me resources for pretty much anything I needed help with. The only problems I've had were that I was pulled over after leaving the clinic and nobody did a thing. I still am followed sometimes but I don't say anything because it's shrugged off. The other issue is I'm on Medicaid and they pay for treatment but I'm charged a dollar a day so 30.00 a month. I'm on SSI and therefore cannot afford it.
