I will not say the Phoenix House saved my life... I will say my higher power saved my life and the Phoenix House provided the safe place for him to do so. I stayed inpatient for 3 months and then lived in a 3/4 house for a year. The place was recently taken over by a different person and to say that the place is unrecognizable is an understatement. To me the Phoenix House was different from any other treatment center I had been to. They allowed you to be yourself and werent fueled by greed. The new director has come in and made everything about money and nothing about recovery. They do not care if you have lived there over a year do one little thing they dont like and they will throw you on the street with 24 hours notice. It was done to me and a friend of mine. Sadly the place we loved no longer exists. I chose not to let their disregard for peoples sobriety ruin mine. I am going on 2 years sober and live in my own house in Tuscaloosa. The place will not keep you sober. You keep you sober.

This place and the staff that were there late 2012-early 2013 really helped me get my mind right. It was in no time that I had a damn good job and was once again a contributing member of society. I didn't know it at the time of admission but after meeting the staff, I realized I had a uncle who was on it. No, I wasn't treated special. Actually think I was pushed even harder bc someone else knew the almost exact environment I had came from. Don't listen to others try to talk you out of going. Marvin was one of the guys who really helped me in my situation as well. He will be missed.

Well I will be real. This place saved my life. Taught me how to live life without drugs and alcohol. It does work if you work it!
